5G, it has been two years since its first commercial use in 2019. How is this new generation of mobile communication technology developing globally?

To examine the development of 5G, the two most intuitive dimensions are to see the two parties of communicating: the network and the terminal. Next, lets look at the status of 5G based on the GSA report in the first half of 2021.

1.169 operators in 70 countries have released 5G around the world, and plus the operators that are investing in 5G, the total number has exceeded 400. This number is already a lot.

2.Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America belong to the first 5G regions, and have basically completed the commercialization of 5G networks; South Asia, Eastern Europe, North Africa, Central and South America and other regions also followed closely for 5G deployment and pre-commercial; In sub-Saharan Africa, 5G is still blank in most areas.

3.Judging from the highest 5G speeds advertised by 54 operators in the market, most of them are between 1Gbps and 2Gbps. This is basically the capacity that can be brought by 100M bandwidth on Sub6G; some operators can reach more than 4Gbps. It should be the result of the deployment of large-bandwidth millimeter waves.

In any case, the average rate announced by these 54 operators has reached 1145Mbps, far exceeding the network capacity of the 4G era, demonstrating the advantages of 5G.

4.From the 5G frequency spectrum invested by various operators, n77(3300~4200MHz) and n783300~3800MHzare the absolute mainstream. The three millimeter wave frequency bands n257, n258 and n261 follow closely behind, and next are 700MHz , 2.6GHz, 2100MHz, 1800MHz and other frequency bands.

In China, in addition to 3.5GHz and 2.6GHz as capacity layer, 2100MHz will serve as a deep coverage layer for China Unicom and China Telecom, and 700MHz as a wide coverage layer for China Mobile and CBN is under construction.

5. At present, the NSA is still the mainstream of 5G development network, but the number of growth is gradually flattening. SA networks will begin to appear in 2020Q3 and grow year by year. With the large-scale development of 5G in China, it will bring the rapid development of 5G in vertical industries and accelerate the maturity of the SA ecosystem.

The regions where 5G SA is invested are all 5G pioneers, such as North America, Europe, China, South Korea, Australia and other places. It can be seen that the advantages of SA networks have been recognized by advanced regions.

6.The number of terminals supporting 5G SA continues to grow rapidly, and has exceeded 50% of the overall proportion. At present, mainstream chip manufacturers have mature products that support NSA and SA dual-mode. Therefore, newly released terminals all support SA in hardware. Manufacturers may carry out targeted software configuration according to the network conditions of different countries.

7.From the frequency bands supported by the terminal, n78 and n41, the two TDD frequency bands are the absolute mainstream, which should have a close relationship with the Chinese market, especially n41 (2600MHz). Followed by the FDD frequency band n1 (2100MHz), this frequency band has been used for 3G and 4G, and many operators choose to re-cultivation of part of the bandwidth to 5G to improve coverage.

8.The types of 5G terminals are abundant. In addition to the most common mobile phones, there are CPE for FWA, industrial routers and gateways, and application equipment such as car routers. This illustrates the wide range of 5G applications.

The current global deployment of 5G has evolved from a spark in China, the United States, Europe, Japan, and South Korea to a prairie fire spreading across the five continents. SmileMbb, a subsidiary of V-solution, focuses on the R&D and sales of 5G data terminal products for the current market. SMILEMBB Launched indoor and outdoor 5G CPE products, of which XTC6251 is an indoor 5G CPE product. XZC5552 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 and Qualcomm's WiFi6 technology, covering the global mainstream frequency bands, providing users with the ultimate experience of Gigabit speed.
